Spain

“Bienvenido” read the sign  at Madrid Airport, in the arrival hall
after disembarking from flight KL 1703 at 14.20 in the afternoon on the
4th of May 2001.
Quickly we found our luggage, changed some US dollars for local currency
and made our way through customs to the rent a car office.
Everything was prepared ahead of time, all went smoothly as we drove
with the Citroen Xsara, a rented car into the city.
Equipped with the hotel’s address and a small map, we encountered our
first difficulty,  Language problems.
Asking a few persons for directions, the answers always came back in the
Spanish tongue.
With some pantomime and careful listening, we found at long last our hotel
right in the center of the city, a few steps from the Puerta del Sol.
We toured Spain for a month, saw all the main tourist cities.
Segovia, Toledo, Cordoba, Sevilla, Granada, Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona.
As we were already in the area we made a side trip to Gibraltar.
There are just too many pictures, so I chose a few.
We have been back to Spain  a number of times.
Spain is the 3rd largest country in Europe.
